Richmond Art Center is the largest visual arts center in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area, delivering exciting arts experiences to people of all ages who reflect the diverse richness of our community. We do this through onsite Studio classes and Exhibitions, and offsite Art in the Community programs. The Richmond Art Center originated in 1936, when local artist Hazel Salmi, who worked for the WPA, traversed the streets of Richmond with a suitcase packed with art supplies, eager to teach art to anyone interested. Today, everything we do at the Center continues to breathe life into Salmi’s original vision: That within every person lives an artist.

Loved:

Rebeca is a fabulous teacher. She is very well organized, and the flow of her classes is great. She allows time for demonstration, questions, work, and sharing in just the right proportions. I am never bored for a minute in her classes.

Improvements:

I liked that this was a 2 session class, but part of me really wanted a third session.

Loved:

Terrific class. So much great information in almost too short a time. Rebeca is a wonderful teacher— knowledgeable, fun, and supportive, and she provide excellent information on online videos and book sources related to the topic in addition to a good class.

Improvements:

Not much — Rebeca really thinks about what works.

Loved:

The instructor is personable, and does an outstanding job encouraging all of the students to participate. She has developed a camaraderie among the students. Also, she provides useful resource materials that enhance the instruction and the projects that we develop.

Improvements:

I’m wondering whether my fellow students might like to set up a companion zoom where we ‘get together’ to draw.

Loved:

The speakers were authentic, and interesting. There was no activity, although the slide show(s) were captivating.

Improvements:

Prior to the conversation/event, an informative slide show—something that participants could have viewed in advance, could have been made available. Under that circumstance, I might have been able to participate by asking a couple of questions. I would have liked to have done that.
