A Spring Break Camp Full Day starts with Lego Robotics.

In this class, students will learn to build LEGO® robots around a central computer, that is the size of a deck of playing cards, called the EV3. They will learn how to attach motors and sensors to the EV3 and build constructions ranging from race-cars, to catapults and creatures. Students will program their robots to move, spin, and pick up objects. They will be introduced to ‘sensors’ that will allow their robots to respond to stimuli such as colors or obstacles. To test their skills, students may participate in tournaments and games, such as navigating a maze. By the end of the program, our students’ pride in their ability to design, build and program their very own robot is sky high!

After Lego Robotics students have a one-hour lunch break where they eat, play games and take a trip to a nearby playground. They then come back to Robofun and jump right into a Coding and Game Design class.

In our coding and game design program, our students learn the basics of the Scratch Jr. programming environment. Each child makes their own interactive stories and games by snapping together graphical blocks. Students learn to edit and modify characters and add their own sounds, voices, and movement. Each child works on his or her own iPad. Scratch Jr. was developed by Dr. Mitchel Resnick and associates of the MIT Media Lab. Dr. Resnick is one of Robofun’s Board members and trusted advisors.
