Week 1 (July 8th-12th) Survival Skills — with Chris Whitney:
What would you do if you suddenly found yourself in the middle of the wilderness with nothing but the clothes on your back? Probably wonder how you got there! Then, you would get to work figuring out how to find water, food, shelter and a way to get home! We don’t have true wilderness in Inwood, but we have the next best thing —- Inwood Hill Park! We’ll explore the forest each day as we make water out of thin air, forage for food, build shelter, and practice other survival skills! Join us in the adventure!

Week 2 (July 15th-19th) Theatre/Storytelling:
There are two things that are guaranteed hits with people everywhere: food and stories! In this workshop, we will pair best loved food-centric folk and fairy tales with creating fantastic fresh recipes in the kitchen. In each session we will explore one folktale through deep listening, dramatic play, and learning to tell the tales to others. Then, we will whip up culinary delights that reflect the story we just worked on. Think: Jack and the Beanstalk and Three Bean Salad or Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Oatmeal Parfaits.

Week 5 (August 5th-9th) Amazing Abstraction:
Abstraction is not always easy. It’s a challenge to focus on non-representational images and highlight the simple (but most important!) elements of art: shape, line and color. But at Scribble, this challenge is where so much creativity is fueled. We’ll be making shape & line paintings, creating a block print series, and building a wood sculpture.

This week at camp we’ll bring the outdoors in...into the studio, that is!
