The Raspberry Pi is a powerful minicomputer. Students will build their own workstation as they learn to integrate the various parts of a "computer" including an HD monitor, power board, mouse/keyboard, and set up the Raspian OS. Students will then make their new computer mobile as they convert it to a "Pi Cruiser". The Pi Cruiser can be programmed by Scratch or the Python coding language. The Pi-Cruiser is a sturdy robot which features a unique swivel 5" display screen. The design of the robot is visually pleasing with an "open" look to maintain a view of all the technology packed on board.
Students will work individually in this camp as they build, assemble, and code their Pi Cruiser. Upon completing the course, students have the option to take home their robot for an additional $60. You'll notice that this is more expensive that the ArdiBot - this is due to the cost of the Pi Cruiser kit! This kit will come with all the robot components including the Raspberry Pi and camera. The components alone come to a cost of $200+!
• Students will work individually on a laptop. We are able to provide laptops for all students. However, students are encouraged to bring their own laptop if they have one. This will allow them to more easily continue their learning after camp. We will help install proper software, which will allow campers to continue working on their projects once camp has ended. • Please pack your child a re-usable water bottle, 2-3 snacks to enjoy during snack break, and a bag lunch.
