Description
This instructor-led program provides students with hands-on training in robotics, engineering, and automation systems. Students develop foundational skills in mechanical design, programming, and system integration through structured, project-based learning.
Using industry-relevant tools and platforms, including VEX IQ, LEGO SPIKE Prime, and FIRST LEGO League frameworks, students engage in guided instruction and applied challenges designed to build technical proficiency and problem-solving skills.
Learning Objectives & Skill Development
Students will:
Design, build, and test robotic systems using engineering design processes
Develop programming skills for robotics using block-based and/or text-based coding
Integrate sensors, motors, and controllers to create functional automated systems
Apply problem-solving and troubleshooting strategies in real-world scenarios
Analyze performance data and refine designs through iterative testing
Collaborate on team-based engineering challenges and structured projects
Program Structure
Each session includes:
Direct instructor-led instruction
Guided builds and programming activities
Structured engineering challenges
Project-based learning with defined objectives and outcomes
Students meet for one hour a week and progress through increasingly advanced robotics concepts, developing both technical skills and engineering thinking.
Educational Focus
This program is aligned to foundational standards in:
