STREAM (Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Art, and Math) Club for Homeschoolers will meet on Wednesdays from 12-3pm throughout the school year.
This month’s emphasis will be energy conservation and techniques: wind, solar, water, and biofuels. Students will be given a binder for which to store their research materials and designs.
Preschoolers will learn about the same topics as below, but will have age appropriate activities along with play time and academics.
12:00 noon- Learn about the mechanics, history, and future of wind power. Understand how windmills work to generate mechanical or electrical power. Make a windmill using origami. Test it outside and collect data.
1:00 - Draw and design plans for making a wind powered model. It may be a vehicle, turbine or whatever you dream up. Using a variety of materials or a kit, make your model, test, redesign and retest. Take a snack and arcade break. Parents, please send a snack.
2:00 - Continue working on model and then present it to the class when finished.
Tammy has taught environmental science and engineering to high school students and enjoys leading labs for all ages! Ms. Patti will assist and provide additional enrichment and academic experiences for our younger students with shorter attention spans.
