Professional and award-winning storyteller, actor, motivational speaker, and writer Kevin D'Ambrosio leads this 4-week session focused on the art and craft of personal storytelling.
Beginning with the basics of strong story structure, how to write essays for performance, and balancing vulnerability and comedy, students will explore, develop, write and practice performing compelling and engaging original stories from their own lives.
Upon completion of the 4-week session students will have at least one fully completed and polished story that will be performed in a Saturday-evening storytelling showcase on The Laughing Academy stage.
Kevin D'Ambrosiois a winner of The Moth 'StorySLAM' and has performed his stories with 'Tellin' Tales Theatre', 'This Much Is True', and The Ragdale Foundation, and co-hosted/co-produced Second City Training Center’s 'Sunday Morning Stories'.
He presents anti-bulling motivational speeches to middle and high schoolers, created a storytelling lab for detainees in Cook County Jail, and is founder of the Theater Games class for adults with developmental disabilities at Piven Theatre, where he also teaches storytelling in their mainstream program.
A graduate of The ACADEMY at Black Box Acting, Kevin was recently seen in Interrobang Theatre Project’s crticially accclaimed UTILITY.
