It's not about being a star, it's about seeing the gifts in others. Structured play that doesn't feel like structured play lets your child's development blossom while they have a blast and helps them foster skills that lead to better collaboration in all that they do!
Classes for this age group focus on group improv and team-building games, fostering a fun and exciting atmosphere where everyone gets to participate while they learn to work co-operatively and develop the self-confidence to express their creative intuition.
Our performance games for children are age-appropriate versions of the short form improv exercises developed by Viola Spolin, and best known through work by The Second City. Skills developed through short form improv exercises at this age include: empathy – the ability to see another person’s point of view and appreciate their feelings, justification – the ability to extemporaneously express and explain a point of view, and storytelling - the basis of the skills needed for literary analysis.
Each session culminates in an in-class demonstration which we will record and share with families.
Give your child an unforgettable experience while building life skills and having a laugh!
We can't wait to have you join us for Improv. We meet on Thursdays from 4:15-5:45pm. Parking is on the east side of our building, between the Family Video and Luxilon Furniture stores. We will record a performance, on the last day of class, to share with families!
We require masks for all participants and faculty, we have a limited class size and we maintain proper social distancing guidelines.
