Be prepared for a full day of fun!
Mornings: Outdoor trips to local beaches, hikes and/or art, crafts and writing activities.
Afternoons: LEGO Robotics
Build and program robots using the new LEGO® Mindstorms EV3 or NXTsystem! Learn about mechanical and software design, loops, conditional statements, problem solving, and teamwork skills. Work in small groups, program and build your robot, and rise to the challenge. Control the robot to avoid obstacles, pick up and carry objects, and play sounds. Projects are structured so that students work in an open-ended, investigative environment while having fun.
Daily Schedule
• 8:45-9:00 Arrival and greeting
• 9:00 Morning group meeting
• 9:15 Morning group leaves on our school bus to swim, hike, etc.
• 11:50 Morning group returns to the school
• 12:00 Lunch & Outdoor recess
• 1:00 LEGO Robotics meeting
• 1:15 LEGO Robotics projects and programming
• 2:30 Outside break time
• 2:45 LEGO Robotics programming resumes
• 4:00 Dismissal
Play-Well TEKnologies was founded in 1997 and has run LEGO® building system programs for summer camps and after schools all across the country. Through the use of fun-filled LEGO® engineering and architectural projects, Play-Well helps children learn problem-solving skills and self-reliance while fostering creative expression.
Notes:
LEGO STEM & ROBOTICS PROGRAMS: • Lunch (daily, non-refrigerated please) • 2 sets of spare clothes • Comfortable walking/running shoes • Bathing suit, towel, water shoes, goggles, etc. for swimming at local beaches • Please make sure everything is marked to indicate it belongs to your child Please note: If you want your child to use a specific sunscreen please bring it to the program, label it with your child’s name and leave it in their cubby or backpack. If not the school has sunscreen on hand.
