W1: Acclimating to The Elementary Elements
Session 1: Jun 27-Jun 30 @ Batiquitos Lagoon
Early learning classes are immersed in nature, designed to build Kindergarten and 1st Grade skills. Leveraging CA State standards, children engage in games and inquiry-led learning, bridging any gaps and readying young learners for the next stage in their education.
W3:Art of Storytelling
Session 3: Jul 11-Jul 14 @ Batiquitos Lagoon
Long before humans read or wrote, they shared their history and stories verbally. They relied on the oral tradition—and their great memories! Our children also rely on this technique—recounting an adventure, sharing a personal story, or explaining the context of one of their creations which become all forms of narration. As they begin to reach for other means by which to express themselves, for example, images and symbols such as letters, teachers guide them to bridge the gap between oral and written, helping them channel the natural impulse to retell in a way that supports their emergent writing foundation. The final product will be a collective work that features each student’s narrative threads, weaving them all together into one.
W5: Nurture the Inner Naturalist
Session 5: Jul 25-Jul 28 @ Batiquitos Lagoon
Satiate an innate curiosity and love for the outdoors as we explore, observe, and map our journeys along beloved trails. A guest speaker will highlight the importance of conserving our protected spaces.
Classes are non-refundable although we are happy to transfer you into another class if needed.
