We hold upper elementary Art Treks (grades 3rd-5th) on most public school holidays. Young artists take public transportation to a museum, gallery, or artist's studio to observe, discuss, and create work back in The Painted Cloud studio based on the theme of the workshop. Young artists should plan for being outdoors, taking the train or bus, snack and lunch.

Impressionism & Sunshine
(Spring //\\ Out of Hibernation )
Spring: the time of year when the sun comes out to play and rejuvenates us all. This camp, young artists will utilize of variety of materials centered around the implementation of light. Considering the concepts of brightness and saturation, young artists will create projects including Photo Solar Prints, Sun Catchers, Van Gogh-Inspired Sunflower Paintings, Outdoor Bubble Prints, Shiny Sky Mobiles, and Sunglasses. Young artists will be enlightened as they explore value through focusing on techniques such as shading, highlighting and shadow throwing in traditional and experimental approaches. For inspiration, we will be looking at the works of Van Gogh and Yayoi Kusama, and how they implement the natural beauty of light in their artwork.
