Class Experience

A fun way to learn the possibilities of acrylic paint: the most user-friendly medium. Each week I demonstrate a new acrylic technique with different materials. Then we paint and celebrate our work in a constructive, positive manner. Set your own goals and choose your own projects, with help from a supportive instructor. Includes class notes, instructions and a basic materials list.

Required Materials:
- 2 oz bottles or small tubes of the following colors** - ultramarine blue, pthalo blue (any kind), cadmium yellow hue deep (looks like egg yolk), cadmium yellow hue light (looks like lemon), cadmium red hue (looks like tomato), alizarin or quinacridone red (looks like apple), and mars black if your budget allows it.
- A larger tube or bottle of titanium white.
- A small bottle of matte acrylic medium in any consistency (very important).
- Good brands for the budget-conscious: Liquitex, Blick and Golden - 2 oz bottles go a long way when used correctly.
- Several LONG-HANDLED cheap, flat, nylon brushes in various sizes. You can buy a pack of these for $17.
- A plastic palette knife. Ask for the basic kind.
- A large surface for mixing colors. This can be an old ceramic plate, or a piece of cardboard covered in Saran Wrap.
- If you already have painting surfaces, bring them to your first class. Otherwise, use heavy paper bags or cut up a cardboard box.
- A water container that does not tip easily.

- Rags or paper towels
- Canvas pad, canvas panels or primed canvas
- Acrylic gesso (white)
- Moulding paste

**You can of course use colors you already have (bring them to the first class), but the pigments on this list will allow you to reproduce any color you see in real life.

Experience Level: Beginner & Intermediate painters new to the medium
