Learn techniques in mixed media such as colored pencil, pastel pencils, water soluble pencils, and more while we bring our tropical birds to life! Each week we will draw a different bird: African Grey Parrot, Lovebird, Flamingo, Cockatoo, Toucan, and Macaw. I will teach you how to sketch each bird and then will show you techniques in layering, blending, and adding texture using mixed media. If you love birds, you will LOVE this class!

No drawing experience necessary.

Materials:  

• Mixed media paper (any mixed media paper is fine but a heavier weight paper is preferred) 
• Graphite (pencil): any grade is fine but I will use a 2H or H for my initial sketch 
• Colored pencils: you may use whatever colored pencils you have on hand. I will bring in a multitude of my own supply for you to try out. 
• Prismacolor Premier pencils are a good choice to start with if you do not have any colored pencils. Buy a set of 36 if possible. 
• Kneaded eraser 
• Micron ink pens: they come in a variety of nib sizes. I will be using 02, 05, and 08 mostly. 
• I will bring in my water soluble pencils for you to try out. These will include Derwent Inktense pencils, watercolor pencils, Tombow brand water soluble brush markers and Neocolor 2 water soluble wax pastel crayons. You may decide after using my supplies which ones suit you best and then decide if you want to purchase them later.
