Class Experience

The Youth Artist Xchange Program is for students ages 13 to 17 who live or go to school in Richmond and are interested in exploring their artistic practice in partnership with a professional artist.

In Shaping Identity youth will join artist Colleen Garland in an exploration of ceramic artwork and techniques. Students will engage in discussion of pieces made by a variety of ceramic artists who identify as women. They will also receive a hands-on introduction to the practice of wheel throwing; practicing the techniques used by several of the artists explored. Students will be supported to explore their own ideas in clay and develop their own individual projects.

All materials included.
