Nature's Recipe: What Ingredients Make a Good Ecosystem?
A hands-on investigation for 2nd and 3rd graders. Students spend the day getting to know the plants and animals that share this land, and what each one needs to live well.
In small groups of 10–15, students rotate through four stations on site to learn about who lives where, what they eat, and what they need. They count, compare, and make observations of their surroundings.
By the end, students can name some of their wild neighbors and say what a healthy habitat needs!
Standards addressed (NGSS): 2-LS4-1, 2-LS2-1
