Our surf camps teach your child ocean safety and knowledge that will stick with them for the rest of their lives. Surfing is our primary focus throughout the day/week, but safety is always our number one priority. Ventura Makos can assure you that your participant will learn more than just how to stand up on a board; we offer a series of specific trainings for all skill levels (beginner, intermediate & advanced). -Participants must sign up for a full week session at a time, no single days or drop-ins. (Registration closes 24 hours prior to the start of each weekly session)
-Age limit: 8 -17 years. NO Mini Makos (5-7 yrs) this season, but we do offer small group privates for all ages upon request!!!
-Ventura Makos will provide boards and suits with rules and regulations along with a separate release form.
-We do encourage participants to bring their own equipment if personally capable to do so.
-In an effort to keep the camp running smoothly and on time, we do not allow arrivals after 9:30 AM unless arranged ahead of time.
-Parents, for the safety of your child, please make sure you are physically checking your participants in and out with our check-in counselor (with the check-in clipboard) and walking them down to the beach.
-Parents, if you are staying at the beach while your participant is in camp, please stay off to the side out of the camp’s perimeters to insure social distancing and so your child fully participates in the camp. It is fine if they want to have snack time/lunch time with you if they let us know, but we appreciate them participating fully in the camp’s day schedule
- Wetsuits will be distributed on Monday for participants in need and taken home with participant to rinse/clean at home each day of camp and will then return the wetsuit at the end of the day on Friday.
- No food and/or drink sharing
-Social distancing expected at all times
-Participants must provide and apply their own sunscreen. Ventura Makos will hold a sunscreen application instruction demo daily to ensure proper use as well as take several sunscreen application breaks.
-No physical contact with instructor or other participants (this IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED, unless trauma emergency) Rules and guidelines will be thoroughly explained upon arrival
-Participants will be limited to the same group for the whole week session.
-Instructors will work with the same groups all week and not co-mingle participants.
-Participants will need to verbally confirm daily that neither the participant, nor anyone in the participant's household has shown signs or symptoms of any illness in the past 2 weeks, has a fever, or has tested positive for COVID-19.
-All participants and instructors will sign Covid-19 specific waiver.
-We will be taking no contact temperatures daily at check in. If you have a temperature of 99.8 or more, please do not come to camp as you will be sent home.
-We have a new "WAIVER OF LIABILITY, ASSUMPTION OF RISK, AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT" to read and complete. You can visit our website to view, print and fill-out this document. We also will email the waiver out prior to the start of camp to be filled out/signed and emailed back/printed out prior to attending. Participants will not be allowed to attend without this.
