Soulful Art Workshops are a fun series to visually express feelings, relieve stress, and provide uplifting motivation by exploring different mediums, lines, shapes, and colors in an instinctive process. For teachers, teaching artists, and those interested in expressive art for the soul.
Progression of Series: We will begin by embracing the doodle expanding motivational phrases and sayings beyond words; then visualize ways the individual imagines their stress will look in creating a visual soulscape; and finally, transforming visual expressions of feelings of stress or pain into being pain/stress free.
July 20th Class : EMBRACE THE DOODLE - Participants will be guided in writing a motivational saying or phrase that carries personal meaning and expand the words into doodles of lines, patterns, and forms. Participants will then add limited color using chalk pastel to elevate the drawings.
August 17th Class : FEEL NOT THINK - Community members will learn techniques for getting out of the left brain and into the right by drawing a line(s) that expresses the strongest emotion they felt that day or week and using their non-dominant hand to apply the color(s) of that emotion, they will then glue collage paper in ways that feel right to create a finished piece.
September 21st Class : TRANSFORMATION MASK - Using guided visualization, participants will paint using various tools expressing stress/pain they are feeling on one half of the provided canvas. On the other half of the canvas, members will paint a representation of being stress/pain free, connecting the two halves by a single facial feature (eyes, nose, or lips).
