Description
In this course, students will be pushed to examine their personal consumption habits, the impact of plastic on our environment, and how we can use art to create change. Students will re-use plastic to create bottle cap mosaics, water bottle sculptures, milk-jug masks, and plastic installations. Some projects will be mainly collaborative while others will be more personally independent. Students will explore a range of media throughout the class, such as drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. As a class we will partner with environmental organizations, such as Surfrider, to transform our art projects into action pieces. This course is an opportunity for students to practice creative problem solving through exploring how art can make a positive impact in their community.
Due to the popularity of this class we will continue Plastic Arts in Spring Quarter at the studio!
