Students will use popular songs to discover structures and patterns in music that can be used to better understand contemporary music, leading to the composition and arranging of a student's own music.
Students will focus on popular styles of music (rock, pop, R&B, etc) that is not in notation form. Instead, students will focus on improving their auditory learning skills to boost their creativity and musicianship. Music theory will be a central point, taught in a fun a creative style that will improve the player's knowledge of harmonic and rhythmic structures. Students will learn about chords and how each one connects to one another, creating a authentic piano arrangements to share with family and friends.

By the end of this course, students will:
-Begin exploring a love and appreciation for all styles of music
-How to build strength and fluency in piano technique
-Be able to apply fun, practice techniques studied in classical music to popular music
-Be familiar with the differences between reading a classical and popular piece
Each week prior to a student’s live Zoom Class, parents will be emailed a 10-minute mini- instructional video to share with their children. Each video will focus on the instructional skills and learning objectives that will be discussed and worked on in that week's class, giving students ample time to practice, identify problem areas and get their questions ready to be answered.
