This program is offered in 12 weekly summer camps alternating between Hillside and Kincaid Park, each week with a unique outdoor skills theme and set of learning goals. Our outdoor studies programs are focused on building the foundations of outdoor & environmental studies for ages 7-12 in the context of our beautiful Alaskan summers. Tuesdays and Thursdays will be Mt. Biking days. If your kiddo isn't interested in Mt. Biking, no worries - there will be a group that will engage in other activities over the course of the day. Check out the "our programs" page on our website for more details on weekly themes, weekly schedules, and daily itineraries.
Our Jr. Youth Outdoor & Environmental Studies Programs emphasize place-based, experiential learning, and our uniquely Alaskan summer camps are no exception. Within the context of the summer season and our local wilderness, we help our youth participants build a solid foundation in the field of outdoor and environmental studies. Our programs are designed to foster authentic learning experiences that will not only last a lifetime, but encourage our participants to become actively engaged in conservation, protection, and sustainable use of our wild spaces.
Each Summer Camp week includes both environmental science and wilderness safety topics. Bear and Moose safety & LNT are prominent features in each morning meeting as well as practiced & reinforced throughout each day.
