This program runs Monday - Friday in 2-hour blocks. Take an environmental science class monday/wednesday or tuesday/thursday and you will have your P.E. and science curriculum covererd!
We will use local natural spots around Anchorage as our classroom.
This program follows the seasons and the various human-powered, outdoor sports we can do in Alaska. From biking, hiking, ice skating, nordic skiing, back country alpine skiing, will cover a range of topics that loosely follow the seasons and weather including Winter Safety and Survival Skills, Ice Skating and Sea Ice, Nordic Skiing, Elements of Ecosystems, Trees, Orienteering, and Wetlands - we discuss elements that collaborate with our current science blocks (each 8 week block has a theme), and focus on safety, skills, and sustaibable use of our natural spaces.
We are dedicated to providing an unparalleled youth outdoor and environmental science education program emphasizing place-based, experiential learning. We take learning opportunites as they occur through exploration and observation during every session.
Our programs are designed to foster authentic learning experiences that will not only last a lifetime, but encourage our participants to become actively engaged in conservation, protection, and sustainable use of our wild spaces. In our programs, participants learn specific and general safety skills through hands-on, active and experiential learning.
HOW TO BOOK: You can select drop-in days if you are looking for a more random/as-needed basis or book the entire 10-week program.
