This spring program will cover a range of topics, tailored for a young age, that loosely follow the seasons and weather including Winter Safety and Survival Skills, Ice Skating and Sea Ice, Nordic Skiing, Elements of Ecosystems, Trees, Orienteering, and Wetlands.
Our outdoor science preschool program is focused on building the foundations of outdoor & environmental studies for ages 4-6. For this age group we will enjoy exploratory learning through observation and play. We are dedicated to providing an unparalleled youth outdoor and environmental science education program emphasizing place-based, experiential learning.
For this age group, we generally let kids follow their own naturally inquisitive natures; in fact, our curriculum for young children is developed specifically around it. We go for short nature walks in the woods, read books, tell stories, and fall into the land of imaginative play to help teach outdoor science foundations for this age group.
Our programs are designed to foster authentic learning experiences that will not only last a lifetime, but encourage our participants to become actively engaged in conservation, protection, and sustainable use of our wild spaces. In our programs, participants learn specific and general safety skills through hands-on, active and experiential learning.
HOW TO BOOK: You can select drop-in days if you are looking for a more random/as-needed basis or book the entire 10-week program.
COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS: In addition to following State of AK and CDC guidelines, we will follow both ASD and each school's guidelines based on the program we are operating. All of our guides are vaccinated and we will be wearing masks in indoor spaces, and potentially outdoors depending on the level of risk in the community and as recommended by local and national health officials.
