We are very excited to once again offer a series of After School Programs, day-time programs, afternoon workshops, home school programs, bike clubs, and weekend workshops, widening the breadth of our Jr. Youth Outdoor Studies & Environmental Science Programs.
- HOW TO BOOK: If you need regular after-school care each week, select the day(s) of the week per month you would like to book. You can book 1, 2, 3, 4, or all 5 days of the week.
- CANCELLATIONS: booking is scheduled per month, and payments will be automatically generated monthly - for cancellation of monthly enrollment, you must fill out our cancellation form at least 1 month before the desired month of cancellation.

What you'll learn
- Our Afternoon Program in the West Chester Creek Greenbelt explores the wild/urban connection that exists in our West Chester Creek Greenbelt, Westchester Lagoon, and the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge. The focus will be outdoor studies and environmental science through hands-on learning, outdoor art, and play in addition to engagement in seasonal outdoor recreation activities like bicycling, ice skating, sledding, and nordic skiing. Topics and themes will loosely follow the seasons and the weather, and we take learning opportunities as they occur through exploration and observation.
- We will be working with our youth explorers to develop a collaborative, ongoing nature journal project where characters, maps, and plots are born from imagination and are interwoven with the science and activities behind our local urban-wild connection.
Sample Class Format
- 3:15 pm: Youth Outdoor Explorers are picked up in our van from Aquarian Charter School, and we transport to Westchester Lagoon.
- *4:30-6:00 pm: Parents Pick up their students at Westchester Lagoon or another designated spot as communicated for the day. Sometimes, we walk to Valley of the Moon Park.
- While our program is nearly 100% outdoors, on very cold days we will utilize an indoor space at our office/workshop in the south addition for the afternoon program, either coming in briefly to warm-up, or staying in for the afternoon, depending on the temperature and wind-chill.
- OPERATING CALENDAR: Our after school programming runs from Mid August to Late May, following the Anchorage School District calendar. After School Programs operate on all scheduled school days and not on in-service days, half-days, or winter and spring break. We do offer specific in-service, half-days, winter, and spring break programs - check out "our programs" or booking page on our website for more information.

Covid-19 Precautions
We follow all CDC guidelines and standards. Our programs are all 100% outdoors, we wear masks, and our guides have received their vaccines.
What To Bring
- Dress for the weather, pack extra snacks.
- We will communicate any outdoor gear needed for the day, in advance (like ice skates, etc).
