**Learn the basics of knitting, led by one of our team members, or bring a project you've been working on, and share your knowledge with others in this laid-back knitting meet-up where we knit and talk about outdoor grit at our HQ in downtown Anchorage, AK**
Grab a coffee or tea at the next door cafe and meet up with us to knit for one Wednesday, or every Wednesday. Knitting is a relaxing and engaging activity in which you can create useful items to bring on your wilderness adventures. Knitting also makes great home-made gifts for friends and family.
Why "Knit and Grit"?
Not all outdoors-related activities need be challenging adventures - talking time to relax and rest is equally important and just as fun! Grit is what it takes to develop outdoors skills and overcome challenges we may face in life and on the trail - when we knit and grit, we share our stories and learning experiences where we used, gained, and developed grit both in the outdoor setting and life in general.
This is a great course if you are visiting Alaska and are looking for a laid-back class where you can meet locals and get insider info about most outdoors and Alaska-related questions. It is also a great course for locals if you are looking to learn a new skill, also get tips and share your knowledge with others, and meet new friends with whom you can plot new adventures while you knit together.
Have a baby or young kids in tow? No problem, this is a course for all ages to come together. We have children's games and toys and a reading corner they can enjoy while you work on your project.
This is meant to be a multi-generational environment where all ages can share wisdom and knowledge while we knit our own unique pieces.
**Don't have your own knitting materials? No problem - we can share ours or point you in the direction of recommended places to purchase some of your own.
Parents may drop-off kids for this class over the age of 5. Parents must stay in the class with kids under the age of 5.
We follow all CDC guidelines and standards. Our programs are all 100% outdoors, we wear masks, and our guides have received their vaccines.
